Workshop Papers, Posters/Demos, and Copyright Forms

Notebook Papers

All participating groups are required to provide a notebook paper by the paper submission deadline in the schedule. We must receive your notebook (draft version) paper by the date given in the online schedule or your paper will not appear in the workshop proceedings.

In an effort to make it easier for the coordinators to construct overview talks and for everyone to get to the scholarly bottom line in the notebook papers we are asking that each such paper start with a structured abstract containing the following items as listed. Obviously each item will have to be very compact. This is information that would appear elsewhere anyway and will now be brought together in one place for easier reference:

Separately for EACH task:

1. Briefly, list all the different sources of training data used in the creation of your system and its components.
2. Briefly, what approach or combination of approaches did you test in each of your submitted runs? (please use the run id from the overall results table NIST returns)
• (runid: a sentence or series of keywords characterizing run)
• (runid: a sentence or series of keywords characterizing run)
• ...
3. What if any significant differences (in terms of what measures) did you find among the runs?
4. Based on the results, can you estimate the relative contribution of each component of your system/approach to its effectiveness?
5. Overall, what did you learn about runs/approaches and the research question(s) that motivated them?

Where you need to cite the TRECVID evaluation goals, guidelines, general results,etc. please include this reference.

Notebook papers must print on 8.5x11 inch paper and use no smaller than a 9pt font. Other formatting decisions are up to you.

Copyright Forms needed
NIST requires that any group that will give a talk, a poster, or whose paper will appear in the proceedings sign a copyright release form.

Please complete, sign, and email the signed form as a pdf file to George.Awad@nist.gov

The senior author at each institution can sign for other authors, but if your group consists of multiple institutions, we need a signature from each institution. If your legal department needs to review the form, please start that process early.
